Coaching & OBM Support: Know What to Do but Not Doing It?

Helping You Move from Self-Understanding to Action

Running a business is rarely just about knowing what to do.

More often, it is about:

  • Knowing where to focus
  • Understanding what is getting in your way
  • Having the right support to actually follow things through

For some neurodivergent business owners in particular, this can be even more complex.

Running a successful business is not just about setting up a strategy or systems. It’s also about building a business that fits how your brain works, flexible enough to work in the moments when your capacity fluctuates, and how you and your business interact with that day-to-day.

That is where the combination of Coaching and Online Business Management support at Sycamore makes a real difference.

Our Coaching work begins with you.

  • Not your task list.
  • Not your systems.
  • Not your marketing plan.

You.

How things are feeling right now, what has been feeling heavy, and what is not quite clicking.

Some days, that might be a clear challenge you can name. Other times, it is just that sense of things feeling harder than they should, or you’re working to your capacity, but your to-do list never seems to get shorter.

Our Coaches all understand and have experience working with neurodivergent clients, and they understand how different thinking styles, energy levels, and processing styles can shape how you run your business. There is no pressure to explain or justify how you.

From there, we help you gently untangle things. That might mean:

  • Talking through what feels stuck
  • Spotting patterns you might not have noticed
  • Working out what actually matters right now
  • Finding a way forward that feels realistic, not overwhelming

This is not about forcing yourself into a way of working that does not fit. It is about finding approaches that are realistic and sustainable for you. By the end of a session, you will have more clarity, but also with something that feels doable, not just another to-do list.

This is where our OBM’s (Online Business Managers) come in.

An Online Business Manager does not just take tasks off your plate. They help you move things forward in a way that reflects what has come out of coaching.

When Coaching and OBM support are combined, that is where real progress happens.

They are carried through into how you run your business and how your OBM supports you.

We keep the connection between coaching and delivery simple and practical.

Depending on what works best for you, this might look like:

Shared understanding

With your permission, your coach can share key insights, strategies, and ways of working with your OBM.

This means your OBM understands:

  • What you are working towards
  • What tends to block your progress
  • How your capacity and energy may fluctuate
  • What approaches are most effective for you

So the support you receive feels aligned and consistent.

Sitting in on sessions

Sometimes it helps to have everyone in the same conversation.

Depending on where you are in your coaching, you may choose to invite your OBM to join a session.

You might choose this when:

  • You are planning a project or launch
  • You want to turn ideas into clear next steps
  • It would help for everyone to hear the same conversation first-hand

It also means you do not have to keep re-explaining everything you have already worked through in coaching.

With your permission, your coach can share key insights directly with your OBM, so they already understand what you have learned about yourself, what works, and where things can get stuck, while you still stay fully in the loop.

It reduces repetition and makes it much easier to move from thinking things through to actually getting them done.

Ongoing support and follow-through

Your OBM then supports you to deliver on what has come out of coaching.

This might include:

  • Breaking things down into manageable steps
  • Helping prioritise what to focus on
  • Using the right strategies to support you when things feel blocked or overwhelming
  • Adjusting plans when your capacity changes
  • Keeping things moving in a way that feels manageable

They are not there to override your way of working, but to understand it and support you within it.

One of the biggest benefits of this joined-up approach is that you are not just looking at what needs to be done, but why it is not getting done.

For many business owners, especially those who are neurodivergent, this can show up as:

  • Finding it harder to get started, even when you know what needs doing
  • Decisions are taking longer or feeling more draining than expected
  • Everything is competing for your attention at once, and you have no idea which way to look first
  • Things being left unfinished, even with the best intentions
  • Systems or processes that just do not quite fit how you think

Your coach helps you understand those patterns.

Your OBM helps you work with them in practice.

Without a connection between your Coach and your business support, things can easily feel fragmented. You might have really useful conversations in coaching but still struggle to follow things through, or have practical support in place but feel unclear on what to focus on or why.

You might:

  • Have great insights from coaching, but struggle to put them into action
  • Have practical support, but feel unclear on direction
  • Find that support does not quite fit how you work

Bringing the two together means:

  • Clarity is matched with action
  • Strategy is supported by delivery
  • Your style of working is understood and reflected

This is about creating a business that you actually enjoy and that is sustainable for you. Not just in terms of income, profit, or workload, but in how it fits around your energy, your focus, and your life outside of work*.

*Yes, you are allowed to have one of those, not ‘just’ be an entrepreneur

You are not expected to:

  • Keep trying to make traditional systems and processes work when they do not suit you
  • Hold everything in your head and still deliver on it all
  • Constantly adapt yourself to fit your business.
  • You can Build your Own Table

Instead, your business is shaped to work with you, not the other way around.

If you have ever felt like you know what you should be doing, but cannot consistently make it happen, you are not alone.

It is not a lack of capability!

More often, it is a mismatch between how you are trying to work and what actually works for you.

By combining neurodiversity-informed coaching with practical, ongoing OBM support, we help close that gap. So you are not just clear on what to do, but have the right support in place to follow it through in a way that feels manageable and realistic.

If you are curious about how this works in practice, you can take a look at our Meet the Coaches Q&A and the different ways they support clients. Each brings their own experience and approach, so you can find someone who feels like the right fit for you.
